About the initiative
Our martyrs are not just numbers. They are not mere statistics in official daily reports. Each of them had a life, and for every person who passed away, there is a story, dreams, memories, and a family. There is an empty chair at the dinner table, and a morsel that will be missing, erasing the presence, voice, words, and existence of the person who shared their life with us.
Believing in this idea, the initiative and project “Martyrs of Gaza” was launched. It aims to monitor, collect, and document the stories of Palestinian martyrs who fell in the genocidal war against the Gaza Strip, which began in October 2023.
The initiative is carried out by a group of Palestinian youth, some of them are in the Gaza Strip and others in the diaspora, with the team working under bombardment. Some team members are based in Portugal, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Qatar, and Norway.
Our Purpose
Our primary purpose for the initiative is to document, collect, and disseminate these stories to the public, aiming to emphasize to the world that Palestinian martyrs had full lives, that they loved life, and that they remained steadfast in their homeland, their cause, and their soil.
